Course 920 HEALTH (Level 4)

Health is a required, two semester course for all sophomores. The class meets two (2) days per six (6) day cycle. The goals of the course are: to guide the behavioral momentum of the student towards a healthy and productive life and to provide instruction and strategies to help the student evaluate information so that responsible choices can be made.

Course 914 PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR FRESHMEN: (Level 4)

Physical education is a required course for all freshmen. The class meets one (1) day per six (6) day cycle. Freshmen are introduced to basic skills development. Freshmen participate in the Project Adventure Curriculum which emphasizes teamwork and problem solving skills.

Course 924 PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR SOPHOMORES (Level 4)

Physical education is required for all sophomores. The class meets one (1) day per six (6) day cycle. Sophomores participate in a curriculum which allows them to experience a variety of cardiovascular and fitness related activities as well as develop physical skills while participating in individual and team oriented activities.

Course 934 PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR JUNIORS (Level 4)

A required course for all juniors this class will meet once each six day cycle throughout the year. Optional: Students who wish to receive Red Cross certification must pass the exams and pay a $5.00 fee for each certification (CPR and First Aid). Central Catholic's commitment to the health and wellness of its community is reinforced by this course in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic First Aid. . Students must pass the course and final exams to receive their 0.25 credit in physical education.

Course 944 PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR SENIORS (Level 4)

A required course for all seniors this class will meet once each six day cycle throughout the year. This course is designed to provide a framework for students to understand the importance of proper nutrition, fitness and personal health and safety. The class will prepare and encourage students to develop a personal fitness program that can become part of their lifestyle. The course will be divided into several units examining diet and nutrition, flexibility, muscular fitness, cardiovascular fitness, self defense and recreational activities. Additionally, discussions of factors contributing to risky lifestyle decisions will take place.
