Over 1,000 Central Catholic High School students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends witnessed Brother Rene D. Roy, FMS, a 1959 graduate of CCHS and former president of the school (2005-2009), being named President Emeritus during the Opening Mass at CCHS on October 1, 2018. Bro. Rene is the first person in Central Catholic history to be recognized with this title.
Jonathan Machado ’07 was recently featured in a Lawrence Partnership video highlighting his commitment to Lawrence and why it’s important to him.
Congratulations to Madison Arndt '14 on being nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. Madison, a four-year standout on the Manhattan College track and field team, graduated in May with a degree in marketing and joined the NCAA as its Division II Governance Intern for 2018-2019 year.

Congratulations to Gabriela Taveras ’13 on being crowned Miss Massachusetts 2018! Gabriela is a graduate of Emmanuel College with a degree in biology and concentration in neuroscience. She will represent Massachusetts in the Miss America contest, to be held in September.
Thank you to all those who participated in our third annual Raider Day of Giving on Wednesday, June 6. Alumni, parents, faculty, and friends joined together to raise support for the young men and women we serve through this powerful, 24-hour online fundraising effort. The participation went far beyond our expectations. Thank you for your love and support of CCHS and our students!
On Memorial Day, we remember those who have died in the military serving our country and defending our freedoms. We honor all of our alumni who have served, including Lt. Col. Sean M. Judge ’89, Ph.D. USAF. Sean served over 19 years until his death in 2012.
Congratulations to Prachi Shah ’10 on being recognized as a Nurse Hero by the Boston Red Sox and Nurse.org! Thank you to Prachi and all Raider nurses who serve the sick and our communities with love and compassion. Happy National Nurses Week!
Congratulations to Dr. Brent Smith ’91, who was recently named a full professor at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. He has made history by becoming the first African-American faculty member to achieve this rank in the history of the Erivan K. Haub School of Business and the University.
Fourteen members of Raider Nation completed the Boston Marathon on April 16, running for various causes and charities, with two running in memory of teacher and track coach Peter O’Sullivan ’67. Congratulations to all of the runners on this impressive achievement!
Every three years, Central Catholic celebrates the annual Saint Marcellin Champagnat Awards Reception honoring alumni and community leaders who make an impact in our local communities and the wider world. The newest members of the Athletic Hall of Fame are also inducted and recognized at this special event, which will be held on May 10 at the Blue Ocean Event Center in Salisbury, MA.
April got off to a busy start for the School & College Counseling Office. On April 3, the Counseling Office and the Advancement Office hosted a Career Fair for Sophomores, and on April 10, the Counseling Office hosted a Jesuit College Fair for Juniors featuring Jesuit colleges and universities. Thank you to the college representatives and the career presenters (including 30 alumni!) for sharing their time and wisdom with our students.
More than 10 alumni will be running in the 2018 Boston Marathon on Patriots' Day. Brian Ford ’05, inspired by the memory of Coach O., is running in his first (for the New England Patriots Foundation). Dean Murphy ’98 will be running in his 15th (his third for the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence). Check out our list of running Raiders and let us know if you or another alumnus is also running!
Congratulations to Michelle Merritt ’16, President of National Venturing of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Michelle recently traveled to Washington, DC, as one of 12 delegates to deliver the BSA Report to the Nation.
