Alum Nominated as NCAA Woman of the Year

Alum Nominated as NCAA Woman of the Year

Congratulations to Madison Arndt ’14 on being nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award

Madison graduated from Manhattan College this past May with a degree in marketing and joined the NCAA as its Division II Governance Intern for 2018-2019 year.

A four-year standout on the track & field team, Madison placed third in the pole vault at the 2015 and 2016 D1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Championships.

Madison also served as President of Manhattan's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as well as the MAAC representative on the NCAA SAAC.

In May, she was recognized by Manhattan College as an outstanding graduate:

The NCAA Woman of the Year Award Process

The NCAA Woman of the Year award, established in 1991, honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.

The MAAC, along with other conferences will select up to two nominees each from the pool of school nominees. Then, the Woman of the Year selection committee, made up of representatives from the NCAA membership, will choose the Top 30 honorees — 10 from each division. From the Top 30, the selection committee determines the top three honorees from each division and announces the nine finalists in September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then chooses the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year from those nine.

The Top 30 honorees will be celebrated and the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at the annual award ceremony October 28 in Indianapolis, IN.
