Student Leaders of the MVC

Nine Raider student-athletes recently participated in the first-ever Merrimack Valley Conference Student-Athlete Leadership Summit on January 11, 2023 at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell.

The summit brought student-athletes from all member schools together to witness various presentations and discussions in an effort to further strengthen the league and its position as one of the top high school leagues in the state.

"It was a very impactful day for the student-athletes who attended," said Ms. Casey Grange '03, Assistat Director of Athletics at CCHS. "The speakers were both inspiring and engaging, and it was wonderful to meet student-athletes who are looked upon as leaders in the other MVC schools."

About the Summit

Throughout the morning, students participated and rotated through three breakout sessions featuring our keynote speakers.

  • Community Service
    • Michael Gorman from The Movement Family
  • Anxiety in Athletics
    • Kaleb Joseph from the Self Help Tour
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion
    • Dr. Carroll Blake of the MSAA DEI Committee

Prior to lunch, students regrouped at tables for advice on:

  • Social Media in Athletics
    • Matt Feld, media member and Boston Herald Freelancer

The Tsongas Arena provided lunch for the event.

"The summit was the kickoff event as we work to bring our students together across our wonderful and diverse communities," noted Mr. Chet Jackson, President of the Merrimack Valley Conference and Principal of North Andover High School.

"Thank you to all of our Athletic Directors for their work in planning and coordinating this initiative for our schools."

About the Merrimack Valley Conference

The Merrimack Valley Conference is a high school athletic conference in District A of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).

Central Catholic has been a member of the MVC since 1973.

Raider Athletics represents a proud tradition of teamwork and excellence that enriches the Central Catholic experience for both participants and spectators.

We offer 30 Varsity Sports in competitions governed by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA), the Merrimack Valley Conference (MVC), and the Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators' Association (MSSAA).

Our student-athletes bring home State, Sectional, and Conference Championships on a regular basis while representing the school community with pride.

Raider Athletics

Raider Athletics represents a proud tradition of excellence that enriches the Central Catholic experience for both participants and spectators.


Our student-athletes bring home State, Sectional, and Conference Championships on a regular basis while representing the school community with pride.

Central Catholic offers twenty-seven (27) Varsity sports in competitions governed by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Merrimack Valley Conference (MVC) as well as two (2) seasons of Cheerleading under the Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators' Association (MSSAA).

More than half of our student body, approximately 800 students, compete on at least one of these teams, an experience that fosters teamwork, dedication, sportsmanship, and the pursuit of excellence, lessons that carry over into all aspects of life.
