Manager of Total Rewards

 

Summary

The Manager of Total Rewards supports the mission of Central Catholic High School by owning and advancing all compensation and benefits programs for faculty and staff. This role serves as the primary subject matter expert for employee pay, benefits administration, and related compliance while acting as a trusted partner to school leadership and employees.

This position is ideal for a motivated and driven Human Resources professional who is excited by the opportunity to operate as the school’s primary full-time HR leader, build structure where it does not yet exist, and grow the scope and impact of the role over time. The individual in this role will have significant autonomy, visibility, and the ability to shape how compensation and benefits evolve as the school continues to grow.

This position reports directly to the President, working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Principal.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Compensation Strategy & Administration

  • Own all employee compensation programs including salary structures, pay practices, annual increases, and offer recommendations.
  • Partner with school leadership to ensure compensation practices are competitive, equitable, and aligned with budget constraints.
  • Maintain and evolve job descriptions, salary ranges, and internal leveling where appropriate.
  • Provide compensation guidance during hiring, promotions, role changes, and employee lifecycle events.

Benefits Administration

  • Administer all employee benefit programs including health, dental, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, dependent care, and the 403(b) retirement plan.
  • Manage annual open enrollment, required filings, audits, and plan documentation in compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits education, enrollment, changes, and claims support.
  • Maintain strong relationships with benefits vendors, carriers, and brokers.
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations and coordinate payroll deductions and monthly invoice reconciliation.
  • Design and coordinate employee wellness initiatives that support faculty and staff wellbeing.

Compliance, Payroll, & Leave Oversight

  • Oversee leave administration including FMLA in coordination with employees, supervisors, and payroll.
  • Track and monitor paid time off usage and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Partner with the Business Office on the administration of ADP payroll and benefits systems.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws related to compensation, benefits, and leave programs.

Employee Support & Lifecycle Guidance

  • Serve as a trusted resource to employees and supervisors regarding compensation, benefits, employee relations issues, and related policies.
  • Oversee onboarding documentation including offer letters preparation and pre-employment requirements and participate in new employee orientation.
  • Support performance review cycles by providing guidance on compensation related outcomes.
  • Manage end of employment processes including COBRA administration, final pay coordination, and benefit transitions.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in compensation, benefits, or human resources with strong depth in benefits administration.
  • Professional certification such as SHRM or HRCI preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws, benefits compliance, and payroll coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, manage confidential information, and build processes from the ground up.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills across all levels of an organization.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and systems thinking skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Central Catholic High School and the Marist philosophy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with experience using Google Suite and ADP preferred.

 

Compensation: Salary & Benefits

Central Catholic High School is committed to offering salaries and benefits that are highly competitive relative to similar Catholic secondary schools.

The salary for this role will range from $85,000 - $90,000 annually based on full-time year-round employment.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, education, etc.

  • Dental insurance through Delta Dental
  • A cafeteria plan with Flexible Spending Account (FSA) & Dependent Care Account (DCA)
  • 403(b) Retirement Plan through Fidelity Investments with employer contribution
  • Life Insurance coverage for two times salary (Employer pays 100% of the premium)
  • Voluntary supplemental Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability coverage
  • Central Catholic tuition benefit offered for children of full-time employees
