Part-Time School Nurse

 

Summary

Central Catholic High School (“CCHS”) is seeking candidates for the position of part-time Registered Nurse. School nurses oversee the health and safety of students. They will coordinate and administer care for students and liaise with parents and staff as needed.

This position would support and take direction from the full-time nurse on staff and report to the Principal.

This is a part-time position without benefits.

A per diem position is also available.

 

Job Description

  • Provide first aid and illness assessment for students during school hours.
  • Triage medical emergencies, provide appropriate care, and make medical referrals as necessary.
  • Administer medications following Central Catholic High School’s and Massachusetts Department of Public Health medication administration policies.
  • Collaborate with parents regarding student health issues and updates on student health needs.
  • Collaborate with full-time school nurse regarding student health issues and updates on student health needs.
  • Maintain constant communication with full-time school nurse, school administrators, Lawrence Public Schools, and community agencies to discuss student health concerns and emergency healthcare plans.
  • Maintain required documentation regarding student health office visits and medication administration.
  • Excellent decision making, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Available to work 15 hours per week (while school is in session); days/hours are flexible.

 

Qualifications

  • Valid Massachusetts nursing license
  • School Nurse Certification preferred
  • Valid CPR, including AED
  • Clinical experience in pediatrics or adolescent medicine
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience preferred
  • Ability to function autonomously in a clinical capacity
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students from different backgrounds, parents/guardians, faculty, and staff
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
