Accelerated Math & Honors Programming

CCHS students have the opportunity to take condensed math and programming courses to fulfill prerequisites.

These courses appear on the official transcript, students earn credit, and grades impact overall GPA.

Honors Programming Course

For Central Catholic rising sophomores (Class of 2028) who meet eligibility requirements.

Classes begin on Monday, June 23 and end on Thursday, July 3.
- Course is held Monday - Thursday
- Course time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
This is not a required summer course, but by registering for this class students will be able to complete their programming requirement (if not done so already).
This course appears on the official transcript, students earn credit points, and grades impact overall GPA.
Students who participate in the program and successfully complete a final assessment will earn 0.5 credits and open their schedule to a study for sophomore year or participate in AP Computer Science Principles.
Cost: $300

Accelerated Math Courses for Credit

For Central Catholic students who meet eligibility requirements.

Classes begin on Monday, June 23 and end on Thursday, July 24.
These courses appear on the official transcript, students earn credit points for these courses, and grades impact overall GPA.

Accelerated Geometry

Accelerated Geometry condenses a year-long geometry course into an intensive summer program in preparation for advanced math courses.

The class will be offered in a new hybrid format.
- Monday & Wednesday: students will work independently with an included book, materials, and Khan Academy integration.
- Tuesday: remote day where students connect with the instructor online via Zoom.
- Thursday: students will be in the building from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM for class. Students must attend all Thursday classes.
Course runs from June 23 to July 24.

Accelerated Algebra II

Algebra II is a prerequisite for students moving from Level II to Level I Honors Pre-Calculus. The course covers multiple topics from Algebra II in preparation for Honors Pre-Calculus.

Class meets from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, Monday to Thursday, June 23 to July 24
Instructor: Mr. Jarrod Brown, Central Catholic High School.

Requirements

Students who apply for this course must have an A or better average in Algebra 1 (Course 312) and Geometry (Course 322) and the recommendation of their present teacher. This course reinforces topics studied in Algebra I.

Other topics include: irrational and complex numbers, quadratic and polynomial functions, exponential and logarithmic functions.

A Texas Instrument TI-84 Graphing calculator is required for this course.

Accelerated Pre-Calculus

Accelerated Pre-Calculus is a prerequisite for students moving from Level II to Level I Honors Calculus OR Level 1 Honors Geometry to AP Calculus AB. The course covers multiple topics from Pre-Calculus in preparation for Honors Calculus/AP Calc AB.

Students must meet eligibility requirements.

Class meets from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Monday to Thursday, June 23 to July 24

Requirements

Students who apply for this course must have a B- or better average in Honors Geometry (Course321), Honors Geometry/Algebra II (Course 325), or Honors Algebra II/Honors Geometry (Course326). Students who have an A-or better average in Algebra 2/Trigonometry (Course 332) and the recommendation of their present teacher may also enroll.

We ask that both students and parents/guardians review these policies. These details outline the general expectations that our instructors address on a daily basis. Each teacher may have his or her own areas of emphasis so please be aware of what each class expects. Please be your best student and self during our time together.

Program Policies

All students must be present and arrive in a timely fashion to their designated classroom.
Students are allowed to miss at most one (1) class during the duration of the Accelerated Summer Math Program. Missed class is expected to be made up by meeting with the instructor before/after class. Students who miss more than one class are allowed to remain in the program, but your completion of the program will be counted as an enrichment audit to help prepare for fall and not towards moving ahead into a higher math course.
Please respect your teacher and classmates
Dress code should be presentable and within CCHS dress down guidelines with respect to what is appropriate for class. Hats, hoods, sunglasses, and revealing or inappropriate clothing that references sex, drugs or alcohol are not permitted.
Eating and drinking while participating in class is not acceptable. This is distracting and inconsiderate of your teacher and classmates. Students who eat during a session may be removed from the class and progressive discipline will be enforced.
Note: Students who consistently ignore the above may forfeit learning access and all paid program fees.
