It's official - Navin Ramesh '24 has been named a 2024 Coca-Cola Scholar! He is one of just 150 Scholars selected from a pool of 103,800 applicants nationwide after a highly-competitive process. Congratulations, Navin!

These 150 high school seniors will each receive a $20,000 college scholarship and join a family of 6,900+ alumni who are leading positive change in their communities and around the world.

Less than 1/6th of 1% of applicants were chosen to receive this extremely competitive award. These 150 students, who were selected from an initial pool of 103,800+ applications from across the country, not only exemplify superior leadership, service, and academics, they are change agents, positively affecting others in their communities.

Coca-Cola Scholars will attend Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend in Atlanta April 25-28, 2024, where they will be the guests of honor at the 36th annual Coca-Cola Scholars Banquet and participate in the Coca-Cola Scholars Leadership Development Institute facilitated by program alumni. Collectively, the Coca- Cola Scholars Foundation will award $3.1 million in college scholarships to these outstanding young leaders.

Congratulations to Navin Ramesh '24 on being named a Regional Finalist in the competitive 2024 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. He is one of only 250 high school seniors nationwide – one of just six students representing Massachusetts – competing for the scholarship.

Navin is now in the second stage of selection after the review of 1,514 Semifinalists who were chosen from among more than 103,800 applicants hoping to be named Coca-Cola Scholars this year.

"It is a great honor, and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to become part of this community of change-makers refreshing the world!" said Navin.

"The Coca-Cola Scholars Program furthers a legacy of service and collaboration to be leaders of the future. What I want more than anything in my future is to have a positive impact in my local community and on a larger scale, harnessing passions for equity in healthcare and education, influenced by Central’s mission of serving the least favored. I’m grateful for the support of my teachers, mentors, family, and friends, who energize me and whose encouragement and guidance have been invaluable to me."

About the Coca-Cola Scholarship - Refreshing the World

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation exists to bring better to the world through investment in exceptional high school students who are dedicated to leadership, service, and action that positively affects others.

According to the Coca-Cola Scholars Program, Regional Finalists have been notified of their advancement and will participate in virtual interviews with a committee of Scholar alumni and staff members in the coming weeks. After these interviews are complete, 150 of the 250 Regional Finalists will become Coca-Cola Scholars, receive a $20,000 scholarship, and be honored at the 2024 Scholars Banquet on April 25 in Atlanta, GA.

Navin aspires to one day enter the medical field, specializing in pain management or surgery.

"I want to become involved with public policy, enabling me to serve through medicine in impoverished areas in the U.S. and beyond, combating both physical pain and the pain of poverty. I am also hoping to serve in the armed forces at some point in my career."

Navin attributes much of his success to the support he received from his teachers at CCHS. “I’d like to thank several of my teachers including Ms. Burns (Ms. Jeanne Burns, Academic Dean), Ms. Ciccolo (Ms. Stacy Ciccolo, Social Studies Teacher), Mr. McCarthy (Mr. Kevin McCarthy, Director of School & College Counseling), Mr. Benedetto (Mr. Robert Benedetto '89, Science Teacher) and Mr. Dumas (Mr. Shawn Dumas, School & College Counselor) for being coaches, teachers, mentors, and role models for me throughout my time at Central. There are many, many more faculty and staff members who have made my CCHS experience special!"

In addition to excelling academically, Navin serves on the Student Council (Exec. Board), Student Ambassadors, Student Alumni Association, DECA, IYNA Neuroscience Club, Gavel Club, National Honor Society (Exec. Board), Cross Country, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Visions Coffeehouse and Magazine, and Campus Ministry.

Navin also volunteers for several organizations including the American Red Cross, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), and the Medical Reserve Corps at local and national events and fundraisers, to name a few.

"Leading and attending retreats, orientations, and other events with Campus Ministry and working with incoming classes through Student Ambassadors are among my favorite involvements at Central," said Navin.

"CCHS fosters a community of such kind and open people, resulting in a welcoming and close-knit atmosphere created by all the students and faculty who call Central home," said Navin.

Outside of CCHS, Navin is also a member of the FEMA National Youth Preparedness Council, a volunteer for Sudanese American Medical Association, a Congressional Intern for Massachusetts' 3rd District, Director of Recruitment at Interns 4-Good, a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Medical Reserve Corps Volunteer. He also tutors.

Navin’s sister Ranjana Ramesh '23, who was Co-Valedictorian for the CCHS Class of 2023 and was also a National Merit Semifinalist and Finalist, is currently studying at Brown University (RI).
