1935: Central Catholic opened on September 16, 1935. It was established by the Marist Brothers for the education of boys in the Greater Lawrence area. Its founder, Br. Florentius, saw classes begin in the Knights of Columbus building on Haverhill Street in downtown Lawrence. Brothers Thomas Austin and Joannes taught fifty freshmen.
