Javi Lopez '26 Celebrates 1,000 Points

On February 4, Javi Lopez '26, All-Scholastic guard and captain of the Raider Boys Basketball Team, hit a free throw to reach 1,000 points and join an exclusive group of Central Catholic hoopsters.

Congratulations, Javi, on this wonderful accomplishment!

"The family aspect that it brings. The community here is unmatched and different from things that I have been part of before. I always wanted to come to Central since I was a kid and could only dream of making history in a special place like Central so it's something that I’m still taking in."

On Service and the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence 

"I did most of my community service hours at the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence. It hit home for me because growing up it was always like a second home to me and somewhere I could go where people really cared about me. It was a full circle moment when those staff and the youth there came out to support me and watch me score my 1000th point. It was very impactful and moving for me."

Faculty Mentors

"I have had many teachers who have helped me, gave me advice, and have been here for me. Some of those have been Mr. Sully Grella '92, Mr. Charles Adamapoulos, and Mr. John Sexton '97. Since I got to Central, they always have been supportive and have been mentors and people that I can always go to if I have a problem."

His Future

"I’m looking forward to playing in college. Possibly in the Ivy League or NESCAC."
