Hobbies & Interests

"I enjoy live music, nature, cooking, animation, technology, and animals."

Why Education & Central Catholic?

"A career in education is a far more congruent way of life for me. I feel this field of work more closely aligns with my personal values than the lifestyle provided by working at a large corporation. After almost a decade of working for Fortune 500 corporations, I decided to bring my skills and experience to CCHS and make a difference here."

"There is something very rewarding about working with students and setting them up for a bright future. My parents both work in education as well, so moving to a career in education seemed like the right path for me to take."

"I am friends with many alumni outside of the classroom, all of whom have shared very positive stories with me of their time at CCHS."

"Faculty and Staff made quite the impression on me, and I was lucky enough to come on board when the Computer Science Teacher position opened up. Happy to bring my experience to Central!"

What do you like most about working with high school students?

"At the end of the school day, I go home knowing that I have made a difference. I am blessed with the opportunity to be a positive influence on our students today so they may have a brighter tomorrow. Helping them to see the potential they have is very rewarding."

Community Service & Volunteering

"I have worked with Loaves and Fishes, homeless shelters and food pantries in Hartford (CT) and did some volunteer work building handicapped ramps and painting houses for the disabled with UMARMY when I was in high school."

"I enjoy programs that assist the elderly and disabled, and volunteering with pantries and shelters providing for the disadvantaged and underprivileged."

Fun Facts

"I grew up in Chelmsford and consider the Merrimack Valley to always be my home."

"Before teaching at CCHS, I was blessed with a professional career in Enterprise Operations, Technology, and Data Analytics"

Mrs. Kerry (DeFillippo '90SM) Calobrisi

Assistant Principal, Academic Dean

Education
  • Bachelor of Arts, Merrimack College
  • Master's Degree of Educational Administration, UMass Lowell
Hobbies & Interests

"I love to attend concerts! My concert going covers a serious spectrum of artists from Barry Manilow to Metallica."

Why Education & Central Catholic?

"I chose a career in education because I find excitement in learning and discovery. As a student, I truly enjoyed the learning process and the sense of accomplishment it brought. That experience inspired me to become an educator—to help students find that same excitement, grow in confidence, and reach their full potential."

"I'm drawn to Central Catholic High School because of its focus on educating the whole person - intellectually, spiritually, and morally. I value the integration of learning and its Marist tradition; and I appreciate being part of a community that promotes service, compassion, and justice."

What do you like most about working with high school students?

"I wish to have a lasting impact on teenage students during a critical period in their development. I love that high schoolers are old enough to have real conversations and complex ideas but still need mentorship that will guide them to become capable, thoughtful adults."

Raider Legacy

  • Parents: David DeFillippo '66 and Kathleen (Begley '67SM) DeFillippo
  • Brothers: Dan DeFillippo '94 and Matt DeFillippo '98

Mr. Edwin Candelario

Mr. Edwin Candelario

Director of Buildings & Grounds

Mr. Candelario joined the Central Catholic community as Director of Building & Grounds in June 2025.

Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Saint Joseph's College of Indiana
  • Lawrence High School, Class of 2006
Hobbies & Interests

"One of my biggest passions is training youth in boxing and other sports. At my boxing gym, I also run a lifting and conditioning program that helps young athletes grow stronger physically and mentally. Beyond the gym, I enjoy spending time outdoors — whether it's fishing, hiking, or just exploring nature. Staying active and connected with the community is important to me, both in my work and in my free time."

Why Education & Central Catholic?

"I chose to pursue a career in education because I have always wanted to see a Lawrence institution flourish. While my path isn't through teaching directly, I believe that creating a safe, functional, and welcoming environment is essential to student learning and staff success."

"As Director of Buildings & Grounds, I take pride in being part of a great institution within Lawrence and contributing to its growth. For me, joining education was a natural choice — a way to use my skills to positively impact the community, support the next generation, and help ensure the school can thrive both inside and outside the classroom."

"I chose Central Catholic because I truly believe in its mission and values. The way the school emphasizes faith, character, and academic excellence aligns with what I believe young people need to succeed in life."

"I have a deep respect for what Central Catholic stands for, and I would be proud for my own children to one day attend this great institution."

"Being part of a community that not only educates but also shapes strong, well-rounded individuals is something I want to contribute to."

What do you like most about working with high school students?

"What I enjoy most about working with high school students is seeing them push the boundaries of what they believe they can achieve. It's inspiring to watch them set higher goals, challenge themselves, and grow into confident young adults. Being able to witness that transformation — and play even a small role in supporting it — is one of the most rewarding parts of working in education."

Community Service & Volunteering

"Community service has always been an important part of my life."

"One experience I’m especially proud of is a coat drive that my son, Josiah, came up with the idea for. Together, through my non-profit, Lawtown Boxing Gym Inc., we've been able to provide over 1,800 coats to families in need. We also organized a book donation effort that gave more than 300 books to a local library."

"Beyond these projects, I run Lawtown Boxing Gym, where I mentor and train hundreds of youth, and I’ve also coached youth football for several years. I truly enjoy giving back, creating positive opportunities for young people, and helping build a stronger community here in Lawrence."

Ms. Isabelle Carter

English Teacher

Education

"I am a graduate of Merrimack College with my Masters in Education."

Hobbies & Interests

"I am a professional figure skating coach. I skated in Boston growing up, and I also play hockey in a women's league."

Why Teaching & Why Central Catholic?

"Being a teacher has been a lifelong passion. I have loved seeing students grow as individuals and as learners. Specifically, within the English classroom setting, I am able to help build the love of reading and see the enjoyment grow throughout each year. I have always been drawn to the classroom and being part of a student's critical point of learning and being able to support them in accomplishing all they set out to do."

"I chose Central Catholic because it aligns with my core values both personally and professionally. I was drawn by the Marist mission and the impact that the community has on the students and faculty."

What do you like most about working with high school students?

"High school is a time when students are just beginning to see their potential and as their teacher, I am able to encourage that potential in the classroom as well as in the school community. Students also challenge us as teachers by asking the 'why' - this has made me a teacher that is adaptable and willing to help explain and guide students. I also see the energy that students at the high school level bring to the table, which creates a positive and dynamic learning environment."

Community Service & Volunteering

"I have volunteered with many "learn to skate" programs both on the north shore and south shore of Massachusetts. I volunteered teaching CCD classes within my parish."

My Journey & Travels

"I am originally from Dorchester and moved up to NH after college."

"I recently traveled to England and Scotland on a once in a lifetime trip. I have been to Paris and Barcelona, as well."

"I frequently visit Canada to see family."

Mr. Brian Ford '05

Assistant Principal of School & College Counseling

Education
  • Boston University, Master's of Education, Educational Leadership & Policy Studies
  • Bryant University, Bachelor's of Science & Business Administration, Management
Hobbies & Interests

"Running has always been a part of who I am, and to this day I still find ways to stay active even while I take a break from competitive running while my kids are young."

"In the past, I ran collegiately at Bryant and have also completed eight marathons, including an ultramarathon."

"I also love golf and soccer, and watch Liverpool each weekend with my two kids, Rory and Morgan, and my wife, Amanda - we try to make breakfast before the games come on."

"We are a family who likes getting outdoors, taking walks in the woods or going to the beach, and playing with our dog and cat when we are home."

Why Education & Why Central Catholic?

"As a college student, I found myself volunteering for positions like orientation leader, retreat leader, and ambassador - similar positions I had as a student at Central. It became evident that I wanted a career that wasn't going to just be behind a desk; I wanted to be active and engaged with others. A career in education is never boring, and while at times difficult, I have never doubted how rewarding it can be. That combined with my love of data and strategic planning made college admissions counseling the perfect fit."

"I always felt a gravitational pull from CCHS bringing me back, but it was important to me that I gained experiences and viewpoints from other schools. I wanted to make sure to come back not just with my alumni hat on, but also one of an experienced educator."

"Central Catholic's School & College Counseling Office is dynamic, experienced and unique. I am incredibly humbled and feel like it's a calling to be able to work with Central families and this group of professionals at this point of my career, all while helping Principal Murray and the rest of the administration further the Marist mission at Central Catholic."

What do you like most about working with high school students?

"Students are unpredictable in the best ways."

"This generation of students gets mischaracterized as lazy all the time, and I get beyond frustrated when I hear that. I don't consider them lazy, I see them as inquisitive, students who question the norm, and ask the 'why?' along with the 'how?'.

"They are deep and careful thinkers, and if I can help steward that next generation of leaders - it's all worth the unpredictability."

Religious Studies Teacher

Education
  • BA Psychology and BS Biology from Providence College
Hobbies & Interests

"I enjoy exercise (particularly running), reading, hiking, swimming, playing the piano, and singing (especially musical theatre).

"These days, I'm especially enjoying sharing some of these hobbies with my son.

Why Education & Why Central Catholic?

"I chose to pursue a career in education because I love to see students grow and succeed. I want to use my experience to guide the next generation in their growth and to teach them about Jesus Christ."

"I chose to work at Central Catholic for two reasons: the community and the Marist identity. CCHS is one of the most supportive communities that I have ever been a part of, and it is beautiful to see that support for each and every student."

"The Marist identity of CCHS gives us all the shared goal of making Jesus known and loved. As that was the reason I decided to leave my previous position as a scientist for a career teaching religion, it only made sense to do so at a school that so ardently shares that goal."

What do you like most about working with high school students?

"This will be my first year working with high school students in a classroom setting. In a camp setting, I really enjoyed the questions that they ask. They think outside the box and ask questions that I sometimes wouldn't have considered myself. I love learning from my students."
