Raiders Grow In Faith & Knowledge at Notre Dame

Each year, CCHS students and faculty participate in programs at the University of Notre Dame through the generosity of the Maraghy Family. Three students and a Campus Minister attended Notre Dame Vision 2026, and three Faculty & Staff members attended a Religion & Science Capstone Seminar. Both programs are a part of Notre Dame's McGrath Institute for Church Life.

Religion & Science Capstone Seminar

June 28 - July 1, 2026, McGrath Institute for Church Life - University of Notre Dame

Three Faculty Members traveled to Notre Dame to participate in this innovative capstone seminar.

About the Religion & Science Seminar

Learn teaching methods that enhance the dialogue between science and religion in Catholic education, challenging the notion that the two disciplines are in conflict.

Science teachers will learn how to engage the Catholic vision of creation and the human person while upholding the integrity and value of independent scientific investigation. Religion teachers will explore how science informs and enhances their appreciation of God's creation and action. Both will receive a deeper understanding of the task of Catholic education to create "a synthesis of culture and faith... reached by integrating all the different aspects of human knowledge... in the light of the Gospel" (Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education, "The Catholic School," no. 34).

The Science & Religion Initiative offers summer seminars at the University of Notre Dame campus and Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. During the academic year, the initiative hosts Institute Days at Catholic high schools across the nation to provide excellent in-service programming for teachers and administrators.

In most cases, school participation is by application or invitation only.
 

 

Notre Dame Vision 2026

McGrath Institute for Church Life - University of Notre Dame

For the fifth straight year, CCHS students participated in this five-day experience to discover and renew God's call in their lives. This is made possible by the Maraghy Family.

This summer, Campus Minister Timothy Hart '85 and three students traveled to South Bend, IN, for Notre Dame Vision 2026 for High School Students and Campus Ministers.

From small groups and glow games, to prayer at the Grotto and meals in the dining hall, the week was full of unforgettable moments.

About Notre Dame Vision

Notre Dame Vision is a five-day experience on the Notre Dame campus designed to help participants discover and renew God’s call in their lives.

Connect with hundreds of other high school students as you learn from the witness of the saints and develop practices to live your faith. Immerse yourself in the Notre Dame campus and sharpen your spiritual vision to recognize God’s grace at work in your life.

With the rich insights of nationally-known speakers and the mentorship of active college students, in large group sessions and in small faith-sharing peer groups, Notre Dame Vision gives you the space and community to ask big questions about how God is calling you to use your talents in service to the Church and world.

Thank You to the Maraghy Family!

Attending these insightful and transformative programs is possible because of the support and generosity of two loyal Raiders and parents of alumni – Patrick '64 (former CCHS Board Member) and Grace Maraghy – who have been strong advocates of both Central Catholic High School and the University of Notre Dame, where their children, Raiders Meghan E. Maraghy '13 and Sean P. Maraghy '15, grauated from college.

While serving on the Board of Advisors for the University of Notre Dame, Pat and Grace established a fund for summer programs, including Vision for High School Students, as well as a Religion & Science program for two CCHS faculty members to attend each summer.

In order to make it possible for Central Catholic students, faculty, and staff to travel to Notre Dame, Pat and Grace also established a fund at CCHS to cover transportation and additional costs for students and faculty to travel to the Notre Dame campus.

Students who are on the CCHS campus also benefit from Pat and Grace Maraghy’s generosity, as they also established a relationship with the University of Notre Dame Admissions Office for representatives from the university to come to the CCHS campus to speak with students about opportunities at Notre Dame.

A Lasting Raider Legacy

Pat and Grace Maraghy's love of Central Catholic is evident in their strong Raider legacy. In addition to Patrick B. Maraghy '64, Pat’s brother Michael B. Maraghy '62, Pat and Grace's daughter Meghan E. Maraghy '13, and their son Sean P. Maraghy '15 are all proud Raiders.
