Spring Band Concert Hits All the Right Notes

Thank you to all those who joined us on Thursday, April 9, for the Spring Band Concert!

The concert featured the Jazz Band, Six Strings (student rock band), the Brass Quintet, the Flute Quartet, and the Concert Band.

A special thank you to all of the student-musicians who shared their talents with us.

The Spring Band Concert was preceded that evening by the Spring Art Expo.

Band Concert Awards

The Louis Armstrong Award®: Liam Phillips '26

The Louis Armstrong Award was introduced in 1974 with the consent of his widow shortly after this great jazz artist died in 1971.

This award honors the outstanding jazz musician at each high school who exhibits superior dedication, musicianship, and creativity.

Congratulations to this year's recipient, Liam Phillips '26.

 

The National Band Leadership Award: Michelle Cuevas Tineo '26

The National Band Leadership Award recognizes those students who take a generous and selfless approach to serving the bands they perform in.

Student Leadership sets the standard for others and instills a culture of success throughout the program.

Congratulations to this year's recipient, Michelle Cuevas Tineo '26.

 

The John Philip Sousa Band Award: Jacoby Cascio '26

The John Philip Sousa Band Award is a nationally recognized award for outstanding achievement and interest in instrumental music, loyalty and cooperation. The student being recognized best exemplifies high qualities of conduct and leadership.

Introduced in 1955 to honor the top student in the high school band, the John Philip Sousa Band Award® recognizes superior musicianship and outstanding dedication.

The Sousa Award is the pinnacle of achievement in a high school band.  

Congratulations to this year's recipient, Jacoby Cascio '26.
