As part of Central Catholic's Marist Service Experience, 10 students and two faculty members volunteered at the South Church Giving Garden to help feed the hungry in the Merrimack Valley.

The food they harvested will help stock the Neighbors in Need food pantry in Lawrence.

Ten students, along with two chaperones, Mr. Tim Hart '85 and Mrs. Maureen Shanahan, worked the evening shift weeding, planting, harvesting, and packing vegetables.

Their harvest will be donated to Neighbors in Need to help stock their food pantry.

About the South Church Giving Garden

Rolling Ridge is proud to host the South Church Giving Garden, an half-acre organic garden growing fresh fruits and vegetables for those facing food insecurity in the Greater Lawrence area. The garden is coordinated by South Church in Andover and represents a powerful collaboration between faith, community volunteers, and sustainable agriculture.

Each year, hundreds of dedicated volunteers come together on our grounds to grow over 10,000 pounds of fresh, nutritious produce. An incredible 90% of this harvest is donated to local food pantries and shelters, while the remaining 10% is served farm-to-table to guests at Rolling Ridge.

The Giving Garden warmly invites individuals to volunteer and contribute their time and energy to our mission. Individual volunteers can make a meaningful impact by dedicating a few hours or an entire growing season to our community garden. Additionally, groups such as corporate teams, schools, churches, and families can schedule group volunteer opportunities as part of a service day or community event.

The Marist Service Experience

The Marist Service Experience grows from the mission of Central Catholic High School: to make Jesus known and loved, to educate the whole person, and to serve others, especially the least favored.

All Central Catholic students will complete at least 24 hours of service to those who need it most.

Through this program, each graduate of CCHS will have the opportunity to encounter Christ in others as they make a difference in our world through building relationships with the least favored and the organizations who help them.

The Marist Service Program at Central Catholic seeks to develop in all students a love for service and a desire to bring Jesus’ Gospel message of love to those on the margins.
