Freshman Raiders “Read Aloud” to Pre-K Reading Buddies

Freshman Raiders “Read Aloud” to Pre-K Reading Buddies

In recognition of World Read Aloud Day on February 5, 2020, a group of 18 Central Catholic High School freshmen brightened the day of some younger members of the Lawrence community by visiting Lawrence Catholic Academy (LCA) to read aloud to Pre-K students.

The CCHS students were paired with the younger Lawrence Catholic Academy “reading buddies” and gathered in small groups to read aloud to the children.

CCHS English faculty member Mrs. Ashleigh Brown ’00 and Director of Library and Media Services Mrs. Kristina Keleher accompanied the students and provided a variety of picture books to read to the Lawrence Catholic Academy students.

To further celebrate the love of reading, CCHS presented LCA with a gift of books for the school.

World Read Aloud Day was founded in 2010 by LitWorld ( as an opportunity for people all around the globe to celebrate the joy of reading aloud, and advocate for literacy as a fundamental human right that belongs to everyone.

Thanks to Lawrence Catholic Academy for welcoming our students into your classrooms! They enjoyed reading aloud to your wonderful Pre-K children!
