The Golden Anniversary Class of 1973 Comes Home

As the CCHS community celebrated Central Catholic's 85th Commencement Exercises, the Class of 1973 celebrated their 50-Year Golden Anniversary Reunion from Wednesday, May 24 through Friday, May 26, 2023.

Over 60 alums from Central Catholic High School, Saint Mary High School, and Presentation of Mary Academy attended events throughout the three days. Members of the Class of 1953 also enjoyed their 70th reunion!

Welcome Home Reception

Wednesday, May 24 - Haverhill Country Club

The celebration kicked off with a Welcome Home Reception at Haverhill Country Club on Wednesday!

Golden Diploma Breakfast & Campus Tours

Thursday, May 25 - Catalano Library, the Central Catholic Campus

The festivities continued into Thursday as members of the Class of 1973 and the Class of1953 enjoyed tours of the CCHS campus led by members of our Student Alumni Association (SAA).

After touring campus, the Class of 1973 (and members of the Class of 1953) attended a Golden Diploma Breakfast in the Catalano Library, where they reminisced with classmates and were honored with their Golden Diplomas and distinguished medals.

CCHS President Christopher Sullivan '81; David Erwin, Chief Advancement Officer; and David DeFillippo '66, Advancement Associate; all made meaningful comments to commemorate the occasion.

"The men and women of the Class of 1973 are mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, husbands, wives, medical and health professionals, volunteers, retirees, lawyers, business men and women, first responders, scientists, military veterans, educators…careers and family lives too numerous to mention," said David DeFillippo '66 - who taught many of them sophomore English.

Recognition at the 85th Commencement Exercises

Thursday, May 25 - Memorial Gymnasium

On Thursday evening (May 25), several 1973 classmates served as Grand Marshalls for the 85th Commencement Exercises, where they proudly stood at the stage in the Memorial Gymnasium while graduation attendees applauded their accomplishments.

Reunion Celebration

Friday, May 26- Carney Family Chapel & Salvatore's Riverwalk

The Golden Anniversary reunion wrapped up with a Reunion Mass in memory of deceased classmates on Friday evening followed by a Reunion Celebration at Salvatore's Riverwalk in Lawrence, MA.

"I enjoyed seeing the smiles, hearing the laughs and the wonderful stories shared from all in attendance," said David Erwin, Chief Advancement Officer. "There was plenty to celebrate and we’re thankful to all who were able to attend."

We're looking forward to seeing them at the Golden Raider Brunch during Homecoming and at their 55-Year Reunion in 2028!
