About the Moynihan Scholar-Athlete Program

The Scholar-Athlete Program is sponsored by Moynihan Lumber and The Eagle-Tribune. Athletic Directors and coaches nominate seniors who should be all-star caliber athletes ranked in the top 20% of their class. At the end of the school year, one boy and one girl are honored at a banquet and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Thank you to Moynihan Lumber and The Eagle-Tribune for recognizing the effort and scholarship of student-athletes through this program!

Uyi takes the field with teammates

One of the top linemen in the area, Uyi is also a top student - a member of the national Honor Society currently taking four college-level AP courses - committed to service and student leadership.

Beyond being a stellar student-athlete [he also participates in Varsity Winter Track (Captain) and Varsity Spring Track], he is also a dedicated member of the Central Catholic community.

He has served as a leader for Catwalk4Cancer, Student Ambassadors, Campus Ministry, Student Alumni Association, SCOPE (Student’s Can Open People’s Eyes), and the National Honor Society.

Uyi also volunteers in the community with around 80 hours of community service at Riverside Assembly Of God Church and the Methuen Senior Center.

In the fall, Uyi was featured in The Eagle-Tribune:
